James W. "Jim" Watkins, age 81, of Redgranite, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012.
He was born on January 14, 1931 in Milwaukee, the son of John and Ethel (Kuhn) Watkins. He married Anne Marie Button on August 5, 1955 in Redgranite. She preceded him in death on December 1, 1994. He later married Ruth Hall in September of 1998 and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2006.
Jim served his country in the United States Army as a medic and was stationed in Germany. He worked for many years at Speed Queen. Jim enjoyed being in the outdoors, where he would hunt, fish, motorcycle and snowmobile. He also enjoyed amateur photography and tinkering in his home and garage. Jim also had a love of animals, especially cats and dogs. He was a dedicated family man and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his four children, Alan (Kay) Watkins, Tracy (Marvin) Lokken, Kelly (Bob) Van and Michelle (Lee) Nelsen; 10 grandchildren, Cole, Ross and Cassandra Watkins, Amanda (Joe) Wiatr, Shawn Roberts, Matthew Lokken, Michael (Jamie) Bartman, Amy (Russ) Meehan, Brandon (fiancé Jenny) Bartman and Krista Nelsen; 9 great-grandchildren, Nadia, Lillyana, Quintin, Kaidin, Gavin, Weston, Garrett, Grayson and Vivian and one step-grandson, Daniel Van. He is further survived by his brothers Roland (Arvella) Watkins and Robert Watkins, one daughter-in-law Maggie Watkins, brothers-in-law Russell Radtke, Dan (Judy) Button, Ruth's children and their spouses, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and spouses, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Watkins,one sister Maxine Radtke, three sisters-in-law Jane and June Watkins and Patricia Button, one step-grandson, Michael Van and his mother and father-in-law.
Funeral Services for Mr. James W. "Jim" Watkins will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00am in Crossroads Family Church, Wautoma with Rev. Dan Carlson officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Saxeville Union Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00am until the time of services at the Church.
