James "Jim" Bryan Church was born May 14, 1949, in Chicago. Jim is the third oldest child of five. Jim was drafted into the Army, for 2 years, with 9 months spent in Vietnam fighting in the front lines. Jim was awarded many medals which included: the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, ARCOM, VSM, VCM EXP M-14, Air Medal and 2 OS bars. Jim's highest rank was Sergeant but was honorably discharged as a PFC E-3. It was in Vietnam Jim was exposed to Agent Orange; a chemical spray used to kill the jungle, which caused many health challenges for him. Jim was an avid supporter of his local VFW and proud the world finally recognized Vietnam Veteran's as honorable Vets worthy of praise for their service.
Jim never married, but spent many years with Maureen, from Milwaukee, who he met in college. Jim Graduated from Northern Illinois University, "NIU" as a teacher of Industrial Arts/general Art and with the ability to also teach English and Math. Jim taught all his years in Rockford, IL. and retired from teaching in 2001 and went on to enjoy life with his "buddies".
Jim leaves behind 3 brothers, a sister, one niece and 5 nephews.
Private family services were held at Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma with full Military Honors accorded by the United States Army Honors Team and Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317.
