Jacqueline (Jackie) M. Cole-O’Sadnick, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 16, 2024 at Heartland House Assisted Living in Wautoma, WI.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 3-6 PM at Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle, IL. Additional visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, LaSalle at 10:00 AM until the time of her service. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Ronald Margherio OSB of St. Bede Academy, assisted by Pastor Thomas Otto of St. Patrick’s Church. Matthew Sucher will be the vocalist for the service.
Jackie was born to Dr. Robert and Margaret Bedard on July 2, 1936 in Rochester, MN. They traveled as a family all around the United States, following her father’s military assignments during World War II. After the war they moved back to Kankakee, Illinois where she and her sister, Judy, were raised. After high school, she attended Stephens College and married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, William C. Cole on August 18, 1954. They moved to LaSalle, IL and raised their children. They had 1 daughter, Kathleen, and 2 sons, Stephen and Matthew. After raising Kathleen and Stephen, she began working for the State of IL in various positions. Shortly after her daughter graduated from college, Jackie & Bill found themselves proud parents of a newborn, Matthew! They began raising their second family until Bill passed at the age of 53 in 1988. They had been happily married for 34 years. After Bill’s death and raising Matt, 14 years later, she was so fortunate to find the second great love of her life, Tom O’Sadnick. They were married on Feb. 9, 2002. The Cole family was small and we always yearned for a larger family. Well, Tom had a large, wonderful family and suddenly, we became huge! We blended our little family with his family and it was wonderful! Nothing was more important to Mom than family so this gave her more blessings than she ever could have hoped to receive! Sadly, her second love, Tom, passed away in 2017 at the age of 88 after 15 happy years of marriage.
Jackie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, LaSalle, IL. She was a longtime member of the St. Anne Society and was involved in St. Pat’s school club and held various offices while her children attended. Not that many people know that she was a “Parrot Head” and attended concerts in full “Parrot Head” attire. Can’t even imagine her rocking out! Travel was always a large part of her life.
She made friends of all ages everywhere she went. We could share lifelong examples of her loyalty, loving spirit, strength and selflessness throughout her life. To chronicle all her kind and loving acts would take volumes! She resided in LaSalle for 58 years prior to moving to Geneva, IL for 7 months and then to Heartland House Assisted Living Facility, Wautoma, WI for 1 year until her passing.
Jackie is survived by her children, Kathleen (Paul) Hedrick, Stephen (Susie) Cole, Matthew (Katie) Cole. Dan O’Sadnick, Dave (Kathy) O’Sadnick, Rick (Traci) O’Sadnick, Maureen (Matt) Johnson, Eileen (Bob) Smith. She left behind 21 grandchildren, Grady, Kelsy, Emersyn and Brody Cole; Luke, Mary Clare (Kelley), Anna and Miles O’Sadnick; Pam (Brown), Amy (Hills) and Megan O’Sadnick;, Michael, Elizabeth and Julia Johnson; Katherine, Emily and Lauren Smith; Thomas and Allison O’Sadnick; Leanne (Wege), Chris and Joe Hedrick. She also leaves 14 Great Grandchildren behind. She is survived by her brother, Robert Bedard of Kankakee, IL and her niece, Margaret of Kankakee, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her brother-in-law, her husbands, William Cole and Thomas O’Sadnick, various aunts, uncles, nieces, and countless friends.
