Hugh Nigh, age 62, of rural Bancroft, passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King where he has resided for the past 6 years.
He was born December 26, 1950 in the town of Pine Grove the son of George and Charlotte (Ennenga) Nigh. He married Barbara Metcalf on June 6, 1970.
Hugh served his country in the United States Army from September 2, 1970 to March 31, 1972. After the service, he worked many jobs until his retirement with UPS due to injury in January of 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barb; his children, Dan (Sandy), Dianne (Stephen) George, Dennis (Denise), Delaine and Danette; a special nephew, Craig; his grandchildren, Trevor, Isaiah, Dylan, Megan and Brandon; step granddaughter, Amber and her three daughters; a step grandson Derek; brothers and sisters, Harlan (Karen), Irv (Phyllis), Orin (Charlotte), Harvey (Joan), Elwyn (Pat), Charlene (Raymond) Applebee, George (Tonya), Brian (Roxanne), Elveta (Matt) Prahl; further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law and step grandson, Elishua. Long time friend Steiny and many horses.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home with the Pastor Jeff Silha officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and from 12 noon Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wisconsin Veterans Home for the loving care they gave Hugh.
In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated for the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
