Harold "Bud" Schafer, age 88, of Almond, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born October 27, 1925 in Joliet, IL, the son of William and Louis(Engelbrecht) Schafer. He married the former Doris M. Brown of March 4, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2012.
He is survived by 15 children, Beverly (Albert) Dachel, Brenda Haferman, Rich (Tina) Schafer, JoAnn Mundinac, Barbara Schafer (Robert Scott), Glen Schafer, Ronald (Denise) Schafer, all of Almond, Bill (Sandy) Schafer, Hancock, Mike (Laurie) Schafer, Waupun, Lynn Alexander (Tony Shirley), Tonica, IL, Marlene Mertens, Iola, Betty (Steve) Davis, Hudson, FL, Don (Deb) Schafer, North Las Vegas, NV, Bob (Sheila) Schafer, Houston, MO, and Rose (Bob) Fluech, Tonica, IL; one sister, Dorothy Echoff, Antioch, TN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katherine Wilson, Ceil Schafer; and by four brothers, William, Earl, Clifford, and Edward Schafer.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield with Rev. Eric L. Hambrock officiating. Burial will be in Fish Lake Cemetery, Hancock.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Plainfield and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
