Harold P. Lingen Sr., age 89, of Wild Rose, passed away Monday evening, January 3, 2011, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI. He was born July 13, 1921 in Stanley, WI. the son of Peder and Caroline (Sorenson) Lingen. He married the former Elizabeth Ponick on June 3, 1943 at Fort Riley, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1969. Later, he married Dortha May Hart in January of 1980. She died on May 23, 2003. Harold served his country in the Army during World War II. He farmed in Stanley, Wisconsin before moving to rural Almond and later Wild Rose. He enjoyed keeping draft horses on his farm in Wild Rose. Harold was a 66 year member of Victory Post #112 American Legion of Stanley, Wisconsin. He is survived by one son, Harold P. Lingen Jr., Wild Rose; one daughter, Delores (Robert) Menzel. Katy, Texas; two granddaughters, Candy (Scott) Ansley, Houston, Texas, and Tracy (Chris) Black, San Antonio, Texas; three great grandchildren, Scotty, Iris, and Brayden; one brother, Harvey (Lillian) Lingen, Stanley; one sister, Kathleen Lingen, Fargo, North Dakota. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Renee Menzel; one sister, Beatrice Schiedler; and by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Wild Rose. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the Chapel.
