Harold A. Kromrie, age 77, of Dakota, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday May 4, 2011.
He was born September 3, 1933 in Westfield, the son of Henry and Clara (Tagatz) Kromrie. He married Audrey Semrow on April 17, 1954.
Mr. Kromrie graduated from Westfield High School in 1952 and later served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1961.
For 40 years he owned and operated Harry's Auto in Dakota. Harold had a love and passion for his "old cars." He took great pride in restoring many antiques for himself and clients and also taking time to attend car shows.
Harold was an active member in the community where he served as a Special Deputy for the Waushara County Sheriffs Department. He was also an active member of the Dakota-Richford Post 163 American Legion and a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake where he served on the church council and was president of the cemetery association.
Harold enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with family and friends.
Harold will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Audrey Kromrie, Dakota; his children, Paul (Pam) Kromrie, Dakota, Debbie (Gary) Jannette, Adams, Christine (David) Myers, Darboy, Michelle (Gary) Gmeiner, Larsen; five grandchildren, Rhianna and Colton Myers, Dylan and Isabelle Gmeiner and Cody Kromrie; one sister, Ruth Wright, Stevens Point; further survived by other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don and his sister, Margaret.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake with the Rev. Blaine O. Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Leikness Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church.
