Gunther "Red" Fleiner, age 74 passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015. He was born on October 24, 1940 in Goslar, Germany to Otto and Gertrude Fleiner. They move to the United States when Red was 10 years old. They both preceded him in death years ago.
Red was always in Managerial Positions over the course of his working career. Most recent he was the Materials Manager at SMT in Appleton, WI. He loved working and being out with all the people daily making decisions.
Hunting, fishing and reading were a few of his main hobbies. He loved engaging in conversations regarding History, as this was always his favorite subject. Over the course of Red's life, flying became a hobby that he loved very much. He eventually learned to fly an Ultralite plane which he helped assemble. He took many friends flying and attended several EAA shows for decades.
He knew so much about so many subjects that it just baffled his friends how one person's mind could hold all that knowledge. He would just laugh and smile that big smile when anyone would ask, "How did you know that?"
Red is survived by his wife: Mary; son: Michael (Mechele) Fleiner; daughters: Michele (Andy) Hellums, Monica (Manny) Modenessi; two step sons: Matt (Krista) Aman, Mark (Sandy) Holmes; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He leaves many friends that will miss him dearly.
