Gloria M. Sanchez, 73, of Wautoma passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1947 in Wheeling, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arturo and Margarita (Leyva) Muñoz. Gloria married the love of her life Leon G. Sanchez Jr. on December 9, 1963. They lived in Texas and Wisconsin Rapids before relocating to Wautoma, WI. She was always by her husband’s side making sure his needs were met until he passed away in 2014.
Gloria worked for many years as migrant farm laborer, as a cook, at a local potato packaging farm, and in the end as a caregiver. She cared for her husband for many years when he became ill. Gloria’s faith and love of family were important. Sundays and holidays were always a full house at her home. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, music, walking, dancing, singing in the church choir, spending time and traveling throughout the US and Mexico with her family and friends.
Gloria is survived by her four children: son John Sanchez, Wautoma; daughter Rebecca (Daniel) Segovia, Nekoosa; daughter Cynthia (Javier) Loa, Wautoma; and son Rick Sanchez, Stevens Point; fourteen grandchildren, Leon IV (Naomi), Jennifer (Mario), and Brittany (Cody) Sanchez; Daniel (Samantha), Jessica, and Abraham (Kristin) Segovia, Jordan Friday; Timothy (Irina) Wolf, Michael, Javier Jr., and Thalia Loa; Kassandra (Aqeel) Jackson, Kristoffer and Annayellie Ysquierdo; eighteen great grandchildren, Kaiden, Xzaylia, Leon V, Gabriel, Mario, Braiden, Olivia, Xavier, Aria, Chloe, Carter, Bryson, Rylee, Bianca, Timothy III, Izrael, Dominic and Desmond; two sisters Yolanda Munoz, Texas, Olga (Albert) Garcia, Texas, and one brother Jaime Munoz, Texas. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leon Jr., son Leon III, infant daughter Nancy, and brother Juan Muñoz.
Visitation will be held at 10AM on Friday, March 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wautoma followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma is assisting the family with arrangements. www.leiknessfuneralhome.com
