George H. Woodrick, age 92 of Wautoma, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Heartland House, Wautoma.
He was born in Wautoma on February 14, 1920 to John and Alvina (Berg) Woodrick. He graduated from Wautoma High School with the class of 1937. George then graduated from UW Madison with a bachelor's degree in May of 1942. He then entered the U.S. Navy in November of 1942 where he served in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Halfmoon, USS Rutilicus and USS Cybele as a navigation and executive officer. He was honorably discharged on June 10, 1946. George then worked for the Argus Newspaper as writer and co-editor. He also wrote about the local sports. He was also an assistant coach for Football, Basketball and Track for Wautoma High School. George then taught math and science at Pittsville High School and was the Basketball coach. Numerous times he led the team within one game of the basketball state finals. George then attended UW Superior and earned his master's Degree as a Guidance Counselor. He then worked at Omro High School as a guidance counselor until his retirement. George was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waushara Country Club and Two Oaks Golf Course.
George is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Bernice, Margaret and Agnes and two brothers: Harley and Clifford.
As per George's wishes, he will be cremated and buried next to his family in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wautoma.
