George D. Wiesjahn, age 89, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday evening, March 29, 2011 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.
He was born January 25, 1922 in Coloma, the son of Bessie and Emil Wiesjahn. He married Norma E. Blackmore on May 17, 1946.
George graduated from Coloma High School in 1941. He joined the United States Army from September of 1942 until 1946. George saw military action from New Zealand to Japan on many islands. After his military service, he was employed at the Chevy Garage in Coloma for 30 years and served as Village Clerk in Coloma for 20 years. George was a past member of the Coloma Volunteer Fire Department for many years and an active member of Coloma United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of them in their younger years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma E. Wiesjahn, Coloma; two children, Steven (Debbie) Wiesjahn, Coloma, Marsha Wiesjahn, Elgin, IL.; two grandchildren, Shanda and Garrett Wiesjahn; one niece, Diane (Robert) Kenyon, Milton; Rev. Larry (Cheyrl) Ingalls, Oshkosh; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Elaine Ingalls and brother-in-law, Lawrence Ingalls.
