Gale Allen Studebaker, age 77, of Wautoma, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Wild Rose Memorial Hospital.
Gale was born on November 8, 1935 in Pontiac, IL to Martin and Laverne (Little) Studebaker. He graduated from Pontiac High School and then entered the U.S. Navy in 1955. He served as a Seabee and was stationed at Lampoc Naval Air Station, California and Adak, Alaska and was honorably discharged in 1958, lived in California for several years and then returned to Milton, WI. In 1973 he moved to Wautoma and on June 19, 1976 he married Kathryn Schlichter. Gale was a truck driver for many years and also a roofing contractor. He was a member of Wautoma Mason Lodge 148 and an EAA member since 1975. Gale loved everything about aviation, especially flying. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Gale is survived by his wife: Kathryn Studebaker; children: Samantha (Oscar) Escalante, Dale Studebaker, Timothy (Abbey) Studebaker, Michael (Rayan) McNamara; grandchildren: Ryan and Stefanie Fisher, Jordan and Savannah Studebaker, Colleen (Neil) Hudson, Kirsten McNamara; brother: Harry (Carol) Studebaker; sisters: Mary (Carl) Schulz, Teresa (William) Maas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons: Keegan Studebaker and Ryan McNamara.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma. Officiating at the service will be Father Robert Stegmann. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at 11am at Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma.
