Ellen Handel

Ellen Jane Handel, age 78, of Wautoma, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Berlin.

She was born December 4, 1941 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Hoffa) Luce.

Ellen was a graduate of Wautoma High School and later received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Fox Valley Technical College. She was the accountant for the family business, Horseless Carriage of Wautoma. Later, she was Administrative Assistant of Finances at Waushara Industries for over 20 years. Ellen also worked at Stoneridge in Wautoma for some time.

Ellen served as organist and soloist at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved being a longtime active member of the Ski Patrol at Nordic Mountain in Mount Morris. Ellen also volunteered for the Special Olympics and the Food Pantry in Wautoma. She was a licensed pilot and loved gardening.

She is survived by three sons, Christopher (Robin) Handel, Wautoma, Timothy (Amy) Handel, Wautoma and Patrick Handel, Wautoma;  daughter-in-law, Brenda Handel, Plymouth; grandchildren, Megan (Eric) Vezina, Sydney Handel, Derek Handel, Kayla Klabunde, Luke Klabunde, Jennifer Kohlman, Garrett (Mary) Handel, Kaitlin Handel, Seth Handel, Tanner (fiancée, Kaylee Dudek) Handel and Brianna Handel; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Jean) Luce, Stoddard, WI, Phillip Luce, Wausau; one sister, Mary Pat (Steve) Lackscheide, Raritan, IL. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Roland B. Handel Jr. and Matthew Handel; one sister, Christine Luce; and by her sister-in-law, Marie Luce.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with Rev. William Evans officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. at Leikness Funeral Home.
