Eleanor "Ellie" M. Luedke, age 76, formerly of Neshkoro, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston, WI.
She was born March 9, 1936 in Madison, the daughter of Odd and Mary (Halama) Gerstad. She married Richard "Dick" C. Luedke on November 30, 1957 in Madison. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1994.
Eleanor and her late husband resided in Milwaukee for many years before moving to Mazomanie and then Neshkoro in 1983. She worked as a cook at St. Peter Immanuel Lutheran School in Milwaukee for many years. Later, she worked at the former Jansen's Floral of Berlin, WI and she drove school bus for the Wautoma Area School District.
Eleanor was an active member and past president of the Neshkoro Lioness Club. She was involved in transportation for the Lions Eye Program and assisted with Leader Dog Training. Eleanor was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Neshkoro, Waushara/Wautoma Senior Citizens, AARP, and the Neshkoro Community Choir. She enjoyed serving as a hospice volunteer.
She is survived by three children, Richard S. (Gail) Luedke, Wausau, Nancy A. (Jeffrey) Hepting, Wausau, Robert M. "Bobby"
(Sandi) Luedke, Neenah; grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Baylee, Jackie (Rodney), Brian, Matthew, Stephanie, Scotty (Danielle),
Barbie (Joel), Michael, and Jordyn; three great grandchildren, Amelia Rose, Tyler and Max; one brother, Rodney Curtis, Madison; two sisters-in-law, Jan Roelke, Fort Atkinson and
Audrey Luedke, Arizona.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Gerstad; and by her sister-in-law,
Gerry Curtis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Neshkoro with the Rev. Franklin Giebel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 9:00 a.m.
until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being
established for Wisconsin Lions Camp and Waushara/Wautoma Senior Center.
