Eleanor Eloise Bacon, age 89, of Hancock, passed away Friday afternoon, July 23, 2010 at Harmony Living Center in Stevens Point.
She was born September 2, 1920 in Hancock, the daughter of Worth J. and Ellen Barnes Staples. She married Merle G. Bacon on June 15, 1941 in Hancock. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1978.
She was a life member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Oasis Prairie Homemaker's Club. Eloise was a talented seamstress and an avid quilter. She volunteered at the Ministry Medical Hospital in Stevens Point.
Mrs. Bacon was member of the Hancock United Church of Christ where she participated in the Ladies Aid for many years. She and her husband farmed in the Hancock area for 54 years.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Judy) Bacon, Hancock, Randell (Sharon) Bacon, Hancock, Gayle (Linda) Bacon, Hancock, Linda (John) Richardson, Omro; her loving grandchildren, James (Deborah) Bacon, Mark (Michelle) Bacon, Betsey (Jason) Welty, Jeffrey (Kelly) Bacon, Aric (Lisa Orlowski) Bacon, Sean Bacon, Tina Bacon, David Bacon; great grandchildren, Emily Bacon, Alexander Bacon, Kaila Bacon, Zachery Bacon, Kyle Bacon, and Jacob Bacon. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Marge Staples, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Vance Staples, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Ileta Rohde.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield with the Rev. Yul Kwon officiating. Burial will be in the North Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday with an Eastern Star Service at 6:45 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
