Edward D. Stelmachowski, age 80, of Wautoma, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at Heartland house in Wautoma. He was born May 21, 1936 in Milwaukee the son of Edward August and Clara Ann (Schmidt) Stelmachowski. He married Camille Kulinski on May 21, 1966 in Milwaukee; they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 21, 2016. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan for two years. Before moving to Wautoma, Ed was employed by the City of Milwaukee Water Department in various positions including Systems and Special Projects Manager. While in Milwaukee, Ed volunteered with the Sojourner Trust House for battered women. After moving to Wautoma, Ed was involved in St. Joseph Catholic Church, volunteer archaeologist with the U.S. Forest Service P.I.T program working in the Wisconsin State Forests. Ed worked at Hancock Library and was an avid reader, golfer and also enjoyed fishing.
Edward is survived by his wife: Camille M. Stelmachowski; three sons: Edward L. (Rebecca) Stelmachowski, Douglas W. Stelmachowski, Steve G. Stelmachowski; one grandson: Xavier; one granddaughter: Ava; brother: David (Judy) Stelmachowski; two sisters: Judith Hintz and Mary Curley. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law: Daniel Curley, and Melvin Hintz
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with Rev. David Greskowiak officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edward's name to the American Heart Association www.heart.org or the Wautoma Salvation Army www.salvationarmywi.org.
