Edmund J. Neidner, of the Town of Crystal Lake, rural Wautoma, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI. He was born May 29, 1927 in Milwaukee, the son of Edmund Charles and Marguerite (Dummert) Neidner. He married the former Nora Lee Hintz on October 14, 1950 in Port Washington. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2007. Edmund graduated from Milwaukee East High School. He served honorably with the US Navy Seabees from 1945 until 1948 in various Pacific campaigns and earned a Purple Heart. After graduation from UW-Madison, Edmund joined his father at E.C. Neidner Tile and Terrazzo Co. As president, he retired in 1990 and moved to Crystal Lake, Marquette County, WI. Edmund was a charter member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church, Mequon, and later a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma, followed by Wild Rose Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Milwaukee and later in Berlin. He also belonged to Wautoma Kiwanis, Waushara Crime Stoppers, Waushara Country Club and the Crystal Lake Club. Ed's motto was to "keep busy": this was evident from Boy Scouts, Model Railroading, Water Skiing, Golfing, Stamp and Coin Collecting along with boating/camping throughout the many lakes and rivers of Wisconsin.
He is survived by three sons, Paul Neidner, Menasha, Peter (Debra) Neidner, Jackson, and Philip (Catherine) Neidner, Watertown; one daughter, Polly (Steven) Crane, Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Karen Neidner, TX, Ashley Miller, CA, Christopher Crane, FL, Chelsea Crane Turman (Lance), Kenosha, Andrew Neidner, Stanley, and Katie Neidner, Watertown; great-grandson, Colter
Turman; one sister, Doris Christianson, Erie, PA. Ed was the favorite uncle of David Christianson (Sarah), TX, Susan (David) Derting, OR, and Cheryl (Wesley Yount, NC. He is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma with Pastor Alyson Janke officiating. Inurnment will be at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shriner's Hospital would be appreciated.
