Dr. David Stelter, 70, Wautoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12th, 2017.
He was a graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1970. Following an internship at the V.A. Hospital in Milwaukee, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army at Fort Polk, LA. He practiced dentistry in Wautoma, establishing Waushara Dental Associates, and was a member of the Wisconsin Dental Association. He also served as adjunct faculty for Marquette University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Stelter was a member of several conservation groups and enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially bird hunting with his special dogs, and trout fishing. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying many adventures from Hudson Bay to Belize, Wisconsin to Montana, and several points in between with best friends Tom and Steve. He was a charter member of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association and spent many enjoyable hours working on his tree farm. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Wautoma Rotary, and served on several bank boards as director, most recently Hometown Bancorp.
David is survived by his life's love, Beth. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and is survived by daughter Allison (Andrew) Hinkelman and their children Cole and Ella, son Dr. Darren (Kristin) Stelter and their children Gavin and Mackenzie. He is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Justice Jon Wilcox and Jane Ann, and sister-in-law June Stelter. Other survivors are aunts Phyllis Gaatz and Alfreida Stelter; numerous cousins; nieces Jennifer (Jason) Weekly and her daughters Alexandra and Jaina, Dawn Stelter; nephews Jeff Wilcox, Greg Stelter, Kevin (Emily) Stelter and their daughter Isla, Dean (Shannon) Stelter and their children Dominic and Kiera.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rheinhold (Tom) and Clara Stelter, and his mother and father-in- law Irv and Iva Jane Heller. He is also preceded in death by brothers Dale and Duane, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial will be established.
Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma on Sunday, February 19th, 2017. Visitation begins at 12:00pm, leading to the Memorial Service at 2:00pm, followed by a luncheon.
