Dorothy Mae Lilja, age 84, of Neshkoro, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 23, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward F. and Nora (Keft) Wille. She married Richard V. Lilja in 1963. Dorothy was a member of the Neshkoro VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI and was active assisting with American Red Cross blood drives. She regularly volunteered at the voting polls. She was a member of Lake Geneva Garden Club. Dorothy was active with her church, including teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and entertaining friends in her home. Last but not least, Dorothy was very involved with her family and children including volunteering on field trips and being a room mother every year. She is survived by her husband, Richard V. Lilja, Neshkoro; one son, Guy Lilja, Neshkoro; one daughter, Gay Lilja-Houghton, Ashburnham, MA; one granddaughter, Katarina Houghton, Ashburnham, MA; one sister, Carol Petersen, Wheaton, IL. Dorothy is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Grace Biarnesen. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma. There will be a reception at the Lilja residence immediately following the services. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12 noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
