Dorothy Clark

July 14, 1924 — September 30, 2010

Dorothy J. Clark, 86, Wautoma died suddenly following an accident on Thursday, September 30, 2010.She was born on July 14, 1924 in Stevens Point, the daughter of Milton W. and Ada M. (Gustin) Whitman. On April 6, 1946 she married Arlyn D. (Al) Clark at the Baptist Church in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1996. Dorothy's life overflowed with love for her family and her church. Her ever-growing circle of family & friends spans a lifetime and she was the best customer of both the post office and phone company as she determinedly kept in touch. The family photos on her refrigerator door were the best message board of all. Dorothy also loved flowers & gardening, trading recipes, knitting & crocheting, walking, playing cards & dominoes with friends, Lake Irogami sunsets, and Packer victories. She was meticulously organized, sharp with numbers and an excellent typist in her earlier years. Music occupied a special place in her life. Dorothy enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and, especially, dancing with Al. For many years, she enjoyed an active retirement at her winter home in Fairway Village at Largo, Florida where she was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post #9643.

Since 1958, Dorothy was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church of Neshkoro . She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW), and, in her later years, loved participating in the prayer shawl ministry. The beautiful shawls, afghans and blankets she lovingly made provide a long lasting memory of her warmth and compassion for the many recipients including each child, grandchild and great grandchild. She is survived by five children, Gary D.(Barbara) Clark, Des Plaines, IL, John A.(Rose) Clark, Okatie, SC, Mary J.(Fran) Ircink, Madison, Greg R.(Linda) Clark, Neshkoro, Mark R.(Kristen) Clark, Mount Horeb ; eight grandchildren, Chris (Rachel) Clark, Glenview, IL, Tim (Andrea) Clark, Wilmette, IL, Steven (Samantha) Clark, Needham, Mass, James Ircink, Madison, Karissa (Alex) Dahnke, Oshkosh, Robert Clark, Neshkoro, Emma and Jenna Clark, Mount Horeb ; eight great grandchildren, Annelise, Caroline, Alexander, Addison, Eric, William Steven, Andrew, and William Henry ; one brother, Robert (Beverly) Whitman, Waupaca ; one sister, Doris Charlesworth, Stevens Point ; three sisters-in-law, Elsie Clark, Ripon, Irma Clark, Wisconsin Rapids, and Shirley Brown, Terrell, TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James; two grandchildren, Julie Lynn Clark and John Ircink; two brothers, Harold Whitman and Marvin Whitman; one sister, Katherine Lubinski; and a brother-in-law, Art Charlesworth.
