DoraMarie "Babe" Gallinger, 82, of Bancroft, WI, died on February 24, 2013 at St. Michael Hospital, Stevens Point, WI.
Dora Marie Gallinger was born September 19, 1930, the daughter of Herman Otto and Minnie (Hay) Nohrenberg in White River, South Dakota.
She grew up and attended school in and around White River. On March 5, 1946, she married Don Monroe Goff. To this union four children were born, Marlene Jo, Don Lee, Gary LaVerne and Bud. They farmed around White River before moving to a farm near Glad Valley, South Dakota. When Don's health got bad, they left the farm and moved to Sturgis, South Dakota. They lived around the Black Hills, near Belle Fourche, Mud Butte and Custer before moving back to Sturgis where they were living when Don passed away in 1973. DoraMarie then moved to the west coast to be near her sister, Pauline, eventually settling in Shelton, Washington where she met and married Darwin L. "Jug" Gallinger. They lived in the Shelton area until Jug passed away in 1994. She then moved to Wisconsin to be near her children, Jody and Bud. There she met her dear friend and companion, John Steinhorst. They lived together in Bancroft, Wisconsin until John passed away in 2006.
She loved the great outdoors, especially gardening and sewing, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. When she could no longer live alone and care for herself, her youngest son, Bud and daughter-in-law, Laurie took care of her and lived with her until the time of her death.
Dora Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Minnie Nohrenberg; her husbands, Don Goff and Darwin L. Gallinger; her loving companion, John Steinhorst, brothers, Pete and Paul and sisters, Lucille, Virginia and Pauline. Two children, Don Lee Goff and Marlene Jo Behn, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
She is survived by her sons, Gary L. (Darlene) Goff, Kimball, Nebraska, Bud (Laurie) Goff, Almond, Wisconsin; four stepchildren, Linda Rose Osburn, Debbie Oien, Darcie Tritt, all of Shelton, Washington, Darwin E. (Dusty) Gallinger, Kalama, Washington; further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
To honor Dora Marie's wishes, cremation will take place and family graveside services will be held on March 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota.
