Dominic Santacroce, age 88 of Mt. Morris, rural Wautoma and formerly of Milwaukee, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at UW Hospital, Madison with his family by his side. He was born in Milwaukee to Sam and Mary (DiMeo) Santacroce. After high school, he joined the US Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. Dominic was honorably discharged and returned home and went to Marquette University and received a bachelor's degree in Accounting. On August 20, 1949 he married Alice Marie Korek in Milwaukee. Dominic worked at AC Spark Plug/Delco Electronics in the accounting department. The company sent him back to school while working and he earned his Master's in Accounting. Dominic and Alice enjoyed vacationing in the Mt. Morris area and later retired to Mt. Morris Lake. He enjoyed spending quality time with family, stamp and coin collecting, gardening and the outdoors. He was a proud member of American Legion Wolman-Minskey Post 317.
Dominic is survived by his wife of almost 66 years: Alice Santacroce; children: Donna Mulqueen, Linda (Jeff) Steffen, Mary Roth, Kathleen (Scott) Stritchko, Sam (Vicki) Santacroce; grandchildren: Matt, Angela (Andy), Katie (Nate), Brian, Aimee, Sam; great granddaughter: Madelyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Greskowiak with burial and military honors to follow in the Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery, King. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at church from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma is assisting the family with arrangements.
