Dianna M. Smith, age 66, of Wautoma passed away Sunday morning, August 18, 2013 at her home. She was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on April 25, 1947 the daughter of Albert and Lois (Frederick) Gross. She married William R. Smith, Jr. on September 3, 1966 in Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2005.
Dianna and her husband moved from Michigan to Chicago until settling down in the Wautoma area, where she worked many jobs throughout her life including waitressing and housekeeping at Wild Rose Manor. When not working, she spent much of her time volunteering at Head Start and other places. She was a dedicated foster parent for ten years and helped enrich the lives of many young children. Dianna always made sure to help those who were in need and opened up her home for Christmas dinners and other meals. Her biggest accomplishment was going back to get her high school diploma in 2000. Dianna loved drawing, singing, dancing, crocheting, playing cards and many other crafts. She was a strong-willed woman who loved to take care of others and made sure to put a smile on anyone's face that she came into contact with. She will be deeply missed by those lives she enriched as a foster parent, mother and friend.
Dianna is survived by her mother Lois May Gross, Big Rapids, MI; four children William H. (fiancée Roseanne TrePanier) Smith, Freedom; Jason W. (Amanda) Smith, Wautoma; Lisa D. Smith, Wautoma and Cristopher J. Smith, Wautoma; eight grandchildren; Marjorie J. Smith-Schroeder, Austin I. Adams, Alexander, Tristan, Cheyenne and Dakota Smith, Monica and Wayne TrePanier; brothers and sisters, Dennis (Sue) Gross, Alfred (Sallie) Gross, Robert Gross, Charles (Jane) Gross, Debra (Jim) Walter, Cheryl (Walt) Nelson; her childhood friend Sharon Clover; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband William R. Smith, father Albert D. Gross, step-mother Vivian H. Gross, mother-in-law Lillian M. (Holmes) Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Richard Allen and Karen Louise Smith, two additional sons Terrence Lee and Dustin David James Smith and one niece Angie Chupp.
Funeral Services will be held for Dianna M. Smith on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 3:00p.m. in the Waushara Community Church with Rev. R. Alan Spitler officiating. She will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery.
A time of visitation will held on Friday from 1:00p.m. until the time of services at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
