Darrel Fenske

May 30, 1939 — July 21, 2012

Darrel K. Fenske, of Richford, died suddenly from complications after heart surgery on Saturday morning, July 21, 2012. He passed away at the home he was born in 73 years ago. He was born May 30, 1939, the son of Harold and Lena (Groth) Fenske. He married Judy Ann Snell on October 10, 1964 at Poy Sippi United Methodist Church. Darrel was a 1957 graduate of Westfield High School. He attended UW-Stevens Point before being drafted in the U.S. Army in 1961. He
farmed the family homestead in the Town of Richford and the farm was recognized in 2011 as a Century Farm. An avid outdoorsman, Darrel loved hunting and especially enjoyed his annual hunting trips out west. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for several years. He also belonged to the Adams-Columbia Electric Board of Directors and served on numerous farm service boards. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Fenske, Richford; four children, Kelli (Wade) Welper, LaCresecent, MN, Keith Fenske, (friend, Stephanie Warren) Omaha, NE, Kevin (Carol) Fenske, Almond, and Karmen Fenske, Tomah; three grandchildren, Zoe and Damian Welper, Kameron Fenske; one sister, Sonya (James) Stevens, Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Annabelle Fenske, Richford, Joan (Lee) Sauer, Neshkoro; three brothers-in-law, Garry (Darlene) Snell, Waupaca, Gordon Snell, Wautoma, Roger (Therese) Snell, Berlin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Howard Fenske, and by his sister-in-law, Donna Burgett. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richford with Rev. Blaine O. Niskanen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Richford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
