Danny Clayton Pitcher, age 81 of Wautoma, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. He was born on December 20, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Clayton and LeNore (Peterman) Pitcher. After graduating from Marion High School in Iowa, Danny entered the U.S. Navy from 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1954. On September 26, 1959 he married Caroline Grimm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wild Rose. Danny was self-employed as a Carpenter and enjoyed his work. He was a member of St. Pauls' Lutheran Church, Wild Rose and Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317.
Danny is survived by his wife: Caroline Pitcher, Wautoma; sons: Randy Taplin, Winston, OR, Ronny (Wendy) Taplin, Milwaukee; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister: Colleen Hansen, Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law: Pearl Johnson, Wautoma; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother: Margaret Pitcher; many brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wild Rose. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Dale Bahls with Military Honors to follow accorded by the U.S. Navy Honors Team and Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at church from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Danny's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
