Daniel R. Petrick, age 77, of Hancock, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 2, 2012, at Villa Pines Living Center, Friendship. He was born Sept. 3, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of George and Margaret (Vurkowski) Petrick. He married the former Shirley Boylen on May 7, 1955. She preceded him in death on June 20, 1999.
Daniel was employed as a machinist for Bastian & Blessing in Chicago for many years until his retirement. He moved to rural Hancock from Norridge, IL, and belonged to the Greenwood Rod & Gun Club of Hancock. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He is survived by four sons, Kevin (Michelle) Petrick, Zion, IL, Carl (Marilyn) Petrick, Zion, IL, Duane Petrick, Des Plaines, IL, and Glen (Stacey) Petrick, Norridge, IL. He is further survived by five grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Barnas, Norridge, IL, Ruth Walsky, Naperville, IL, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, George Petrick and Martin Petrick. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Further services will be held on Monday at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave. Franklin Park, IL.
