Daniel E. Hofer, 81, Mt. Morris, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2016 in the home he built.
Hofer was born in Milwaukee (Bayview) on July 22, 1934 to Henry and Hazel (Damon) Hofer. He married his beloved wife Grace C. (Schlinke) on May 22, 1953.
Hofer was a National Service Manager for Thomas Organ Co. for many years. After retiring, he moved to Mt. Morris where he and his twin sons built their log home for Mom.
Besides his dogs, Hofer loved hunting, fishing, camping photography and building.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; son Daniel Hofer; daughters-in-law Joanne Hofer and Merry Hofer; brother Robert (Bernice) Hofer; sister Marion Lovas; son-in-law Robert De Lisle; brother-in-law Jack Schlinke; three sisters-in-law: Gloria Burow, JoAnn Brusewitz and Jerri Schlinke; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Carl and Josephine (Flowers) Schlinke, daughter Linda Jo (Hofer) De Lisle and brother-in-law Daniel Brusewitz.
A celebration of life dinner will be held at a later date.
