Charles M. "Chuck" Heck, age 84, of Wautoma, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Theda-Clark Medical Center, Neenah.
He was born November 20, 1929 in Rubicon, WI the son of Michael and Eleanor(Dias) Heck. He married Agnes Esser on May 2, 1960 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portage.
Chuck served his country in the Navy as a Boatswains Mate G Seaman on the USS Manchester from 1948 until 1949. He reenlisted in 1951 and served aboard the USS Curleu (Minesweeper #8) in Korea. He was employed as a meat cutter for 40 years and retired from the former East Plaza Grocery Store in Wautoma in 1993.
Chuck was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma and a 50 year Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Heck, Wautoma; five children, Peter (Elizabeth) Heck, Appleton, John (Kathleen) Heck, Darboy, Therese Winkelmann, Germantown, James Heck, Wautoma, Mark (Jennifer) Heck, Pulaski; nine grand- children; two sisters, Jane Lindemann, Brookfield, Ann Roethe, Manitowoc; one brother, Hilary (Marion) Heck, Waukesha. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul; his parents; and by two brothers, Rev. Roger Heck and Kenneth Heck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma. Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma.
Visitation will be held at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Memorial is being established.
