Carl O. Pomplun, age 72 a resident at Wisconsin Veteran's Home, King, formerly of Wautoma, died Wednesday, June 13, 2013 at Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca. He was born on November 29, 1940 in Richford Township to Avolt and Alma (Bohn) Pomplun. After high school Carl entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged two years later. On February 16, 1963 he married Judith Ann Booth at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wautoma. Carl worked at Rockwell International in Oshkosh for 30 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing cards with his brothers, collecting antiques and working with Judy to keep their yard near perfect. Carl was an avid sports fan enjoying the Packers and Brewers games whenever he had control of the remote.
Carl is survived by his children: Jane (George) Reepsdorf, Todd (Colleen) Pomplun; grandchildren: Nichole and Matthew Reepsdorf; Bryant (Kate), Jake and Ross Pomplun; brother: Eldon (Patsy) Pomplun; sisters-in-law: Caroline, Eunice, and Wilma Pomplun; brothers-in-law: Harold Fritz and Bob Ellis; mother-in-law: Gladys Booth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parent; wife: Judith Pomplun on August 8, 2000; brothers: Henry, Herbert, Arnold, Elmer, Gilbert, Martin and Marlin Pomplun; sisters: Irma Pomplun, Violet Ellis and Loretta Fritz and father-in-law: Merritt Booth.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Sarah Timian with burial and Military Honors accorded by the U.S. Army Honors Team and Wolman-Minskey American Legion Post 317 at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Tuesday from 9:30AM until the time of service at 11AM. Leikness funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
