Bunny Alice Christie, age 85, of Wautoma, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her home. She was born August 19, 1926 in Wautoma, the daughter of Harley L. and Bessie A. (Trexell) Corning. She married George Christie Jr. on August 23, 1947 in Wild Rose. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2007.
Bunny was employed as a lab and X-ray technician. She worked for numerous area physicians and at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. She also worked in the offices of Speed Queen and Mid-State Supply of Wautoma. Bunny was active at the former Raymond Church in the Town of Dakota. Later, she was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma where she served as Sunday school teacher and communion steward. She was active with the evangelism committee and was the organizer of the shawl knitting ministry. Bunny is survived by three children, Terry (Janette) Christie, Gurney, WI, Randy (Shari) Christie, Oshkosh, Connie (John) Edwards, Wautoma; four grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Miller, Omro, Eric Christie, Appleton, Joshua (Lindsey) Inda, Wautoma, Justin (Sara) Inda, Wautoma; four great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Lauren, Nicholas and Iris; one very beloved brother, Duane Corning, Wautoma; her cousin, Adrienne Tobiason; her special friend, Selma Glunn, and a special other daughter, Kjordis Christie. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relative s and many dear friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister-in-law, Hazel Corning.
Bunny was a loving, serene woman who loved and cared for her family, her friends, her church, and animals. Over the years, Bunny enjoyed a diverse number of hobbies, sports, and interests, including bowling, making stained glass art, knitting, snowmobiling, Homemakers, travel, golf, sailing, motor- cycling, and dancing. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. George J. Kafer officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Dakota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Thursday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Memorial is being established.
