Bernard “Bernie” Anthony Biesek, age 67 of Wautoma, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 18, 1952 to Francis and Irene (Fisher) Biesek and grew up on a farm in Reedsburg roaming the countryside hunting and fishing with a pack of 8 siblings. After high school, Bernie joined the U.S. Army, then the WI Army National Guard. On June 10, 1978 he married Diane Konieczki in Stevens Point. Bernie was a journeyman lineman for WI Power & Light/Alliant. He made shockingly bad puns related to his work, like how he only got zapped once. After the 1992 tornado in Wautoma, Bernie did a great job as foreman in charge of restoration of power to the community.
Bernie and Diane celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this year. She described becoming interested in him based on the twinkle in his eye. Bernie shared his love of the outdoors with his family on camping, fishing, and hunting trips. He spent many years as a Hunter Education Instructor, seeing all three of his children through the class.
Bernie will be remembered as a great man with a generous heart, strong-willed with a stellar sense of humor. He was a gifted joke teller and an expert at BS. The world will surely be a dimmer place without his brightness and love for his family and friends. Bernie was a man who’d do anything to help out family, friends, or even a complete stranger, and he adored his grandchildren.
Bernie is survived by wife Diane, children Nathan (Mary Grace), Jered, and Jenny (Jason Welter); granddaughters Leana and Aria Biesek, and grandson Carson Welter; and siblings Art (Joanne), Bill (Fran), Gene, Marty (Gwen), Rita Mead (Bill), Jo Ann Johnson (Joe). He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jimmy and Marvin
