Bernard G. (Bernie) Thompson Jr. of Neshkoro, WI passed away on Monday, January 16th 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh at the age of 75.
Bernie was born to parents Bernard and Irene (Bagley) Thompson on Oct. 10th 1941 in Berlin, New Hampshire. Bernie grew up in Gorham, New Hampshire and joined the Army at age 17. Finding his way to Neshkoro, Wisconsin Bernie and Elaine's boats bumped into each other while fishing and soon married her after only a short courtship of 3 weeks. Bernie and Elaine married on October 12th 1963 at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro. Bernie and Elaine welcomed a daughter, Antoinette Thompson and a son, Bernard Thompson III.
Through the years Bernie worked for Timblin Transit out of Eden, WI. Bernie was also an active member of the Neshkoro Veterans Post as well as the American Legion of Gorham, NH. Bernie was a one-of-a-kind person with a sense of humor that lasted to the very end. Black is black and white is white, an honesty he had above all else. He enjoyed sharing his hobbies with his grand-children. Cribbage, solitaire and 'war" were avidly played, and always competitive. Bernie loved hunting and fishing; getting a lifetime buck several years ago. He loved sitting outside, with his dog at his feet and a can of beer in his hand, watching his garden grow.
