Arthur Mitchell of Neshkoro passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at his home after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born July 26, 1948 in Cadwood, Kentucky, the son of McKinley and Emma (Osborn) Mitchell. Arthur married the love of his life and best friend, Kathy O'Donnell on June 29, 1985. They lived the best years with great friendships and a lot of good times cherished by many. Art loved to challenge himself and accomplished many things in his life. He was a very hard worker and was very committed to any job he did. Art hauled steel for Vaughn Industrial Sales in Bensenville, Illinois before relocating to Wisconsin in 1990. He then worked for O'Connell Construction in Portage for several years building homes and enjoying such a wonderful trade. He appreciated the opportunity to build his own home in 1993. In 1993, Art was hired by Weiland Trucking of Wautoma, driving over the road for 10 years. He resigned due to a heart problem in 2003. For the next eight years, Art drove local for Badgerland Express of Green Lake until being diagnosed with lung cancer which forced him to retire. He had a high respect for his employers and always gave 100%. Art loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, canning dilly beans, salsa and tomato juice with friends. He also enjoyed Thursday night pool with the variety of teams. He liked working on old tractors, rebuilding and painting to give them a new look. He enjoyed keeping his lawn to perfection and loved to cook making wonderful dinners for Kathy. He had a great love for kids and dogs, they brought him a lot of strength during his toughest days. Art lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed his Bud Light and good talks. He truly enjoyed all people and was a good friend to many. Through his days with cancer he stayed strong and optimistic and kept a positive outlook. His courage and strength will be remembered in more ways than one. He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Mitchell, and by his brothers, Frank and Merle. Art is survived by his wife, Kathy of 27 years, and his German Shepard and constant companion, Maggie. He is further survived by two sons, Arthur William Mitchell (Mary), and Roy Mitchell, both of Shaumburg, IL;
his mother, Emma Mitchell; granddaughter, Hailey; grandson, Noah; five brothers, Danny, Terry, Dennis, McKinley Jr., and Roger Mitchell; two sisters, Brenda Brackett and Jolene Mitchell. Art leaves many wonderful friends behind that made his life full of happy times and laughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma with the Rev. Nathan A. Gauerke officiating. Burial will be in Germania Cemetery, Marquette County. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
