Ardis Alice Spuhler, age 87, of Wautoma, passed away surrounded by family Thursday evening Jan. 28, 2016 at Heartland House in Wautoma.
She was born April 21, 1928 in Wautoma, the daughter of George and Viola (Hardell) Blader. She married Robert J. "Bob" Roberts on Oct. 10, 1948. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1967. Ardis married Wilbur R. "Spook" Spuhler on Sept. 17, 1977. He passed away July 14, 1990.
Ardis was a graduate of Wautoma High School and attended UW-Madison. She and her first husband operated Roberts Home Decorators in Wautoma. Later, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Wautoma and at Little Silver Lake Resort in Wild Rose. Ardis was employed as receptionist at Kubasta, Bickford & Lorenson Law Office in Wautoma for a number of years.
She was a lifelong faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and belonged to the Choir, Ladies Aid, and Kitchen Band. Ardis also cared for the altar flowers at the church. She was a member of Waushara Historical Society, Homemakers, Wautoma Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served on the Wautoma Election Board for many years. Ardis loved being with her family and enjoyed bowling and the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Charlotte) Roberts, Stevens Point; one daughter, Megan (Tom) Kubasta, Wautoma; three grandchildren, Brionne (Dan) Roberts-Bray, Wautoma, Colin Roberts (Sarah Brauer), Madison, and Zach Kubasta, a student at St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN; three step grandchildren, Jeremy (Teri) Kubasta, Wautoma, Tina Kubasta (John Passarelli), Oshkosh, Josh (Ginny Snow) Kubasta, Mineapolis, MN; one great granddaughter, Maya Bray, Wautoma. Ardis is further survived by other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Omar "Joe" and Ruth Blader.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Roger G. Riedel officiating. Burial will be at Wautoma Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Church. A Memorial is being established.
