Anton Wenzel, age 86, of Wautoma, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Oct. 24, 2012, at Heartland House in Wautoma. He was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Yugoslavia, the son of Mattias and Margaret (Reaner) Wenzel. He married Anna Birong on April 15, 1950, in Austria. Anton and his wife came to the United States from Austria in 1950. They resided in Chicago, IL for a short time before settling in rural Westfield. They farmed together in the town of Newton, Marquette County for many years. Anton enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and baking. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Wenzel, Wautoma; four children, Anton Wenzel, Green Bay, Mat (Kris) Wenzel, Wautoma, Teresa (Dan) Kent, Milwaukee, Cathy Wenzel, Stoughton; five grandchildren, Shaun (Jennifer) Wenzel, Paige Kent, Max Kent, Greg Stelter, Kevin Stelter; two great grandchildren. He was pre- ceded in death by his daughter, Frieda Stelter, and by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Robert L. Stegmann officiating burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
